Los Robles Hospital Volunteers support the Conejo Open Space
For many years, the Los Robles Hospital Volunteers have made financial gifts to a wide variety of non-profit organizations that work for the welfare of many in the greater Conejo Valley. The sales from the Los Robles Hospital Gift Shop, a non-profit enterprise operated solely by the Los Robles Hospital Volunteers, are the source of funding for these gifts. The Allocations Committee, consisting of five volunteers, reviews the submissions from a number of groups and makes its recommendations to the Volunteer Board of Directors.

Recognizing the Conejo Open Space as a wonderful community resource, Los Robles Hospital Volunteers Inc has made a generous contribution to the Conejo Open Space Foundation. Sincere thanks from the Foundation and from all who work to preserve and protect the Conejo Open Space for all to enjoy.

Conejo Canyons
The Conejo Canyons Open Space area is located in the northwestern section of the City of Thousand Oaks. The Conejo Canyons Open Space is approximately 3,100 acres in size, and includes diverse natural features such as deep canyons with perennial streams, prominent ridgelines, and a variety of natural habitats. The land is owned by three public agencies: the City of Thousand Oaks, Conejo Recreation & Park District, and Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA).

COSCA is currently working on the planning phase of The Conejo Canyons Management Plan (CCMP), a comprehensive document to quantify the plan areas’ natural resources and to guide their use and management in a sustainable manner while also planning visitor improvements and facilities. Some of the most important components of the plan are public access, trails and improvements, sensitive habitat preservation, cultural resources and habitat restoration.

Public input is an important aspect of this planning process and will be gathered at public workshops. The first public workshop is tentatively scheduled for early October 2008.

Annual Conejo Open Space Trail Work Day
This year’s Conejo Open Space Trail Work Day is scheduled for October 18, 2008. The work sites are currently being determined and will soon be announced. Mark your calendar, and check back regularly for details and updates.
