The following outings in the Conejo Open Space are offered by various organizations
and hike leaders including (but not limited to)
the Conejo Recreation and Park District,
the Conejo Group Sierra Club,
and the Outdoors Club.
None of the outings are offered by the Conejo Open Space Foundation. The information
listed is believed to be correct, however the Conejo Open Space Foundation assumes no
responsiblity for any errors, changes, omissions, trail hazards, accidents, property
right of use issues, or other aspects of the outings.

Wed July 1 5:30pm North Ranch Overlook

Moderate 4-5 mile round trip hike with 1200' elevation gain in Thousand Oaks. Meet at Equine COSCA Trailhead on Bowfield Street 1/2 mile west of Lindero Canyon Road. Bring water, food and lug-soled shoes. Trekking poles a plus. Short car shuttle. Cyndee Zahorik 805-492-1453.
Mon July 6 5:30pm Hike into Wildwood & No Meat Pot Luck

A moderate 4.5 mile hike in the east end of Conejo Valley’s most popular park. We will hike the seldom visited east side which includes Fort Terrace, Wildwood Canyon Terrace and both the Lynnmere and Las Flores Trails. The hike starts out shady near a stream then later warms up as we climb up to ridgelines and enjoy panoramic views of our beloved Conejo Valley. After about 3.5 miles we’ll chow down in the Meadows Picnic Area. This means we’ll carry everything in. This is a conditioning hike where we keep a relatively fast pace. Hike starts promptly at 5:30. Pre-registration and $6 per person fee required. 805-495-2163. Ages 6+. Enjoy this moderate, two and a half mile interpretive hike across Stagecoach Bluff to Lizard Rock. Watch the sun set and the moon rise. Location: Wildwood Nature Park.
Wed July 8 5:30pm Hillcrest Open Space Loop

Moderately strenuous 6 mile round trip loop with a total elevation gain of about 1550' with many up and down sections, some fairly steep. From the 23 Fwy, take the Janss Road exit and head east. Note that Janss Road becomes La Granada Drive as you pass Erbes Road. Meet at the end of La Granada Drive and Crown View Court at 5:30 P.M. Sunset is at 8:10 P.M. Mon July 13 5:30pm Hike Arroyo Conejo–Lynnmere Loop

A lollipop hike in Newbury Park, along the Arroyo Conejo Trail to the Lynnmere Loop trail in Wildwood Park. This is exploratory, meaning we’ll be following the map, and I’ll have copies for everyone. Conejo Recreation and Park District - Open Space Appreciation Hike

An easy 4 mile loop with a total elevation gain/loss of about 500 feet. We will walk
down Indian Creek Trail into Wildwood Canyon, and on to Paradise Falls. After a
brief snack break at the falls, we’ll follow Wildwood Canyon Trail up Arroyo Conejo
Creek, through Wildflower Park, and end back at the Wildwood parking lot. Drive
to the west end of Avenida de los Arboles. Park in the lot at Arboles & Big Sky.

Mon July 27 5:30pm Hike Dos Vientos Loop

Moderate six mile round trip with a total elevation gain/loss of about 900 ft. This hike explores some of the neighborhood trails in the Dos Vientos area of the southwestern Conejo Valley. It provides a great overview of the nearby Dos Vientos residential area, as well as distant vistas including Camarillo, Thousand Oaks, surrounding mountains and open space, a secluded pond, the Pacific coast, and two of the Channel Islands. Los Padres Trail to Los Robles Trail

Moderate 4½ mile hike with a total elevation gain/loss of about 750 ft.
Los Padres Trail leads through a beautiful oak grove, then up to Los Robles Trail.
Head west on Los Robles Trail through the meadow and over the hill to the picnic
table for a snack break. Reversing direction back over the hill to the Scenic
Overlook Trail, then returning to Los Padres trailhead. From 101, drive south on
Moorpark Rd 0.3 mi, then Left on Los Padres Dr about 50 yards. Trailhead is
on the right. Park on the street.

Wildwood Park – Lizard Rock/Paradise Falls

Free!
Moderate 5 mile loop with a total elevation gain/loss of about 750 ft.
Moonridge and Stagecoach Bluff Trails to Lizard Rock, then down (past the water
treatment plant) to the stream. We'll stop for a break at the campground where
restrooms and water fountain are available. Not far upstream is Paradise Falls,
with steps leading down to the pool beneath the falls. Continuing upstream,
we’ll hike out by way of Indian Creek Trail. Drive to west end of Avenida de
Los Arboles. Park in the lot at Los Arboles & Big Sky
