COSF News   (November 2009)

Thank you! to all who helped make this year’s Trail Work Day a success
In spite of the unusually high temperatures, over 160 volunteers turned out to build another great Conejo Open Space trail. Click here for details and photos.

Community Service
On November 1st, approximately 45 volunteers from Temple Adat Elohim (TAE) gathered for graffiti and trash removal from land that is part of Wildwood Park. Details of the maintenance project were worked out by CRPD Parks Superintendent Matt Kouba, and rangers were organized by Supervising COSCA Ranger Glen Kinney. The TAE volunteer work party was led by COSCA volunteer, Steve Forman. About 200 yards of graffiti covered concrete was painted over and a truck load of trash was removed from the site. Many thanks to all who helped make this project happen.

Note: This event was one of many Mitzvah projects, part of TAE's annual Mitzvah Day. "Mitzvah" means to do a good deed for your community.

Non-native plant control
War has been declared on non-native invasive plants in the Conejo Open Space. About 20 volunteers participated in the October 8th outing where a large, dense patch of fennel off Lynnmere Trail was cut and hauled away. The next attack on pest-plants in the Conejo Open Space is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 8:30am until noon. If you are available and interested in helping, please meet at the Wildwood Park main parking lot (Avenida de los Arbloes and Big Sky) at 8:30.
