Conejo Open Space in the news
There have been a couple of recent articles about the Conejo Open Space in the Ventura County Star. A December article, “Conejo stewards of the open space”, is about our COSCA Park Rangers, and in January there was an article reporting the City of Thousand Oaks’ acquisition of an important parcel of land in the Conejo Open Space. Adopt-A-Trail has a new coordinator
The Adopt-A-Trail program is designed to encourage local participation in the on-going maintenance and building of public trails and related improvements. Through the "adoption" of specific trails, or portions of trails, an individual, group, or organization agrees to be responsible for the maintenance and/or development of a trail or a trail segment located within the Conejo Open Space system. Since its inception, Julia Osborn, who helped develop the program, has been the Adopt-A-Trail Program Coordinator.

Rick Koppel has been active in the Adopt-A-Trail program as adopter of the Sunset Hills Trail for two years, and will now be assuming the Adopt-A-Trail Coordinator position. Rick is also a member of the COSCA Trail Patrol, a volunteer interpretive guide with Channel Islands National Park, participates in trail maintenance with Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council, hikes with the Sierra Club, and is a great friend of the open space. For more information about the Adopt-A-Trail program, click here or email Rick at adoptatrail@cosf.org
