It’s New Map Monday: Brookview Loop in Los Robles East (12/15/2025) - Highlights Brookview Trail runs mostly along a ridgeline so you get great views to the south over Lake Sherwood and north over Thousand Oaks. Brookview and White Horse Canyon Trails are quite remote and rugged, so they are great for getting away from the crowds. Fall ‘Four Seasons’ photo contest winner is Marilyn Wells! (12/3/2025) - For our Winter 'Four Seasons' contest the challenge subject is Conejo Valley wildlife (i.e., birds, reptiles, bugs, mammals, etc.). Deadline for entry is February 28, 2026. Raptor expert Jaclyn DeSantis warns about dangers hawks, owls and eagles face—from us! See her recorded presentation (12/1/2025) - On November 19, Jaclyn DeSantis, education program manager at the Ojai Raptor Center presented “Wild Neighbors: Raptors, Rehabilitation, and the Human Connection” as the final talk of 2025 in COSF’s popular Speaker Series. DeSantis is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and she has seen a lot of injured birds during her 15 years at the Ojai Raptor Center. She says most of these… (read more...)
It’s New Map Monday: Vista Del Mar Loop in Dos Vientos (12/1/2025) - Highlights This route is 4.9 miles long with about 800' of ascent. The Twin Ponds, roughly half way along Vista Del Mar Trail. If there was a substantial amount of rain the preceding winter, there will be waterfowl in the ponds. There will be waterfowl in the Twin Ponds if there was a enough rain during the preceding winter to keep the ponds from drying up.
